RALEIGH–The triangle based Carolina Chocolate Drops won a Grammy Award Sunday night, taking the nod in the best traditional folk album category for last year’s album “Genuine Negro Jig,” and besting a formidable field of nominees that included 14-time winner Ricky Skaggs. The 2011 Grammy Awards had a distinctly folk-country flavor.

Also competing in the best traditional folk album category were Maria Muldaur, Luther Dickinson & The Sons of Mudboy, and The John Hartford Stringband.
